Community / support / Having to eject S3 network drive with proton on computer wake up
Avatar
After I wake my computer from sleep mode; I have to eject the S3 Drive and re mount it each time for it to work. If I do not, it gives me an error saying that the drive is unreachable. I am running Fedora Linux.

Thanks for your feedback. Does that apply to Flathub or Appimage release?

By any chance, would you be able to check if this also happen for standalone rclone mount? You would need to install Rclone, if you haven't already: https://rclone.org/install/ and then switch S3Drive mount to old in the App Settings (so it displays the exact CLI command) and then go to About -> Logs, copy out the mount line and type in the terminal. Once you mount from terminal, does the "wake up" issue is also present? Thanks! (edited)

Here is the log and in the second photo is the error I get when I try and mount S3

Even though Rclone is installed and working (which I understand now since it's running from the terminal) (edited)

Thanks, that's a useful note for us, from what I understand it seems there isn't an issue around Rclone, but something more in line S3Drive <> Rclone process management. I will pass that info further, in a hope we can dig into this and have it fixed soon. (edited)

Great. Would you recommend using this method in the mean time?

If you're comfortable using this method and command line, then sure, go ahead. This CLI call it's what really happen behind the scenes, S3Drive does the same, but slightly wraps it with some convenience code. Obviously autostart would have to be setup manually if you really on it... and if you need E2E encryption, then you would need to first enable it on the S3Drive side, generate the new CLI command, copy it out and ran manually. Okay, yeah tbh I had to do a little bit of research on my end since I am sort of learning Linux but I enjoy stuff like this. I don't mind running the code for the initial mount since I don't usually turn my computer off. Thank you again; looking forward to the news/updates. (edited)

I am not sure if you would like me to start a new section or not; when I try to launch an excel file for example, from the drive it errors out. However, when I try and open a photo; it does not. (edited)

Yes, please create a new one, otherwise we'll get lost pretty easily. Please provide a screenshot or text of an error and let us know if E2E is enabled. (edited)
